NB Because of the change in Covid Level this tour will now be either March 13 or 20.
Toi Tū Toi Ora: Contemporary Māori Art showcases the dynamic, ever-changing expression that is Māori art. Distinct from the other art movements of Aotearoa New Zealand, contemporary Māori art occupies an unrivalled position in engaging with cultural histories and the role of Māori knowledge, and continues to invigorate discussions about identity and place.
ArtExplore is thrilled to offer this tour by Curator Nigel Burell (Pirirākau, Ngāi Te Rangi, Ngāti Ranginui, Te Whakatōhea) and until recently Curator Maori Art Auckland Art Gallery. Nigel offers unparalleled insight having curated this exhibition from it’s inception.
We will meet in the Art Gallery Foyer which opens at 10 am. This is such a large exhibition we hope to leave promptly.
We start 2021 grateful that we are able to gather, with the country free of Covid-19. We ask that you observe Level One protocol: https://covid19.govt.nz/alert-system/alert-level-1/
Please do not come if you are feeling unwell.
We have your contact. We will use the Covid QR code for each place we visit. To keep us from spending too much time scanning we ask that you do not Scan. But please use the Bluetooth Tracer App. Masks are not mandatory but recommended where it is not possible to keep social distancing. While we expect that we will be able to keep social distancing we invite you to wear a mask should you want to.
