To start at Pataka with several exhibitions: From the Shore, The influence of Barclay on Maori Film making: The exhibition takes its title from Barclay’s metaphor of indigenous cinema as ‘a camera on the shore’ that reverses the direction of the colonial gaze. Prue McDougall Navigating Worlds explores the European heritage of most New Zealanders.

12.40 leave for the drive to Lower Hutt for The Dowse by 1 pm. Lunch then: Guy Ngan, Habitation considers how notions of place and belonging influenced his expansive practice, grounded in his Chinese heritage, home in Te Moana nui a Kiwa (the Pacific), and studies across Aotearoa New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Italy.
All I Want To Be is a group show featuring artists who use imagination, experimentation and play to explore their ideas.
Maiangi Waitai: Ātea-ā-rangi—Interstellar: Bursting with bright colours, magical symbols and cross-cultural characters, Maiangi Waitai’s art is all about exploring the mysteries of the universe.
Lakiloko Keakea: Fafetu, featuring pieces produced within the last two years, building on a practice of over five decades.
Plus the thrilling outdoor works.

2 pm Artist Studio visit/s are being organised.
Stop off to see Debra Bustin’s work on Petone Foreshore.

2.40 leaving the Hutt to wind back to the city we discover Adam Gallery: Edith Amituanai: Double Take is the first exhibition to survey artist Edith Amituanai’s practice in its entirety.

3.30 pm finish to return to Porirua (Drop off in the city by arrangement)

Meeting at Porirua Railway Station: Wellington-Waikanae train to Porirua leaves at 10.14 am arrive at 10.35 am. Mark arrives from Paekakariki at 10.09 am – with time to get the van. He will meet you at Porirua Station. Latecomers find us in the galleries. Mark’s cell 027 3566 128
